A protector for the alternator cover made by hand in 100% carbon fibre, with a plain weave and a matte finish. It fits on the left-hand side of the engine, over the generator cover, with no modifications: a light yet strong structure, designed to protect the casing from knocks and scraping in the event of a slide.
Its main function is protection. The alternator cover is one of the first points to touch the tarmac in a fall or a slide on track: this cover acts as a sacrificial part, absorbing the impact and preserving the original engine casing - a repair that, on its own, can cost far more than the protector itself. In practice, it's a low-cost insurance for a critical area of the engine.
At the same time it clads the left flank of the engine in carbon on show, completing the treatment on the other side of the engine and bringing symmetry to the build. Lighter than the original metal casing, it fits simply and directly.
